Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. of Denver, Colorado recently completed a project for Apartment Builders LLC. They needed to install a new roof on the community parking structure in Aurora, Colorado and it required anchors to be inserted in the concrete. The concern was hitting Post-Tension Cables when drilling, so GPRS was called in to map the area. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was quickly able to locate the post-tension cables within the area, and clearly mark them on the slab. Additionally, Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was able to locate rebar that may have come in contact with the anchors. Both were marked on the surface so that when drilling all structural support of the deck would be maintained.
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is ideal for precise location of rebar and post-tension cables prior to saw cutting and/or core drilling, mapping of electrical conduits, detection of sub-surface voids and utilities, and detection of underground storage tanks (UST). A common misconception is that GPRS does concrete x-ray. GPR technology does not emit any radiation, there is instant data and we can scan far more locations than x-ray is capable of.
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc of Denver provides Ground Penetrating Radar services throughout Colorado, including Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Aurora, Boulder, Longmont, Grand Junction, Vail, Peublo and Durango. Jason Schaff is the Regional Director for GPRS Colorado, to schedule a concrete survey he can be reached at 303-945-5415 or Jason.Schaff@GP-Radar.com.
